Fall Prevention Program

Falls among the elderly are prevalent, dangerous, and can diminish their ability to lead an active and independent life. Every year, about one in three seniors above the age of 65 years, and nearly one in two seniors over the age of 80 years have a fall, many times with disastrous consequences.

The good news is that many of the falls are preventable. The bad news is that some people believe falls are a normal part of aging and are not preventable – this is not the case.

Our integrated care team has advanced training and experience in working with patients who are at the risk for falls or have a history of falls. They can assess your need for an assistive device, provide suggestions for correcting home safety hazards, and design an individualized program of exercises and functional activities. This program may focus on balance, strength, flexibility, coordination, and walking to help reduce risk of falling.

The main objectives of our program are to:

  • Increase independence with activities of daily living and functional mobility
  • Decrease fall risk
  • Prevent future fall
  • Increase safety

We are excited that we have been able to incorporate GaitBetter into our Fall Prevention Program. GaitBetter is a proven innovative approach to rehabilitation and fall prevention.
